Biker in serious condition after accident
A Richards Bay biker was injured during rush hour traffic.
A BIKER was fortunate to survive not only falling off his bike in peak traffic, but a car driving over his head.
Jandre van Niekerk, (20) sustained serious injuries when he fell off his motorcycle while travelling on the East Central Arterial toward Birdswood at about 5pm on Thursday evening.
According to sources at the scene, he slipped off his motorcycle and fell on the road. After he fell, another vehicle smashed into his bike and drove over his head.
Traffic was backed up all the way into town.
ICE Medical Rescue paramedic and owner, Vinesh Chinasamy, attended the scene and confirmed that the patient suffered trauma to the head, multiple abrasions and a fractured leg. He was also battling to breathe before he was transported to Ngwelezane Hospital by ICE.
