Samson still going strong
Samson Mabuyakhulu will walk from Mtuba to Durban in support of the fight against women and children abuse.
SAMSON Mabuyakhulu is talking another walk to Durban, for a cause he truly believes in.
The 41-year-old father from Mtubatuba’s eMadwaleni Reserve is leading by example, and hope to change the world he lives in – one step at a time.
He has dedicated his life, time and energy to lead the fight against women and child abuse. His passion for the cause has indeed made him a man amongst men.
Mabuyakhulu started his campaign in May last year and walked over 250km to raise awareness on the issue.
At that time he walked from his small home town to Durban in less than twenty days. This was followed by another route, from Johannesburg to Cape Town in November. It took him more than three months to complete.
‘It hurts me to see men abusing women and children. I want to do something to raise awareness for this cause. It takes one person to change the world, and if I don’t do it, who will?,’ asked Mabuyakhulu.
On 1 June he aims to walk from Mtubatuba to Durban in 16 days. This time, he hopes to raise enough funds to build a centre for abused women and children in his area.
‘I can’t do this alone. I am pleading with people to join me on this walk and for companies and individuals to assist with accommodation and water along the way.
‘I will taking the N2 route to Richards Bay, then take the R34 and join the N2 in Mtunzini..’
When Mabuyakhulu arrives in Durban, he will be welcomed by the Mayor of eThekwini, James Nxumalo, on 16 June.
