THE joy of attending a marriage just hours earlier turned into a nightmare for an eSikhaleni family after a horrific accident on the N2 south of Empangeni on Saturday night.
According to authorities at the scene, two women in a Toyota Camry were returning from a wedding in Jozini when their car collided with a minibus carrying four Transnet employees to work at around 10pm.
One of the female occupants died on impact while the other and two of the Transnet workers suffered severe injuries.
The force of the impact broke the Camry in half, the back section coming to rest 30 metres from the front.
The cause of the accident is not known and the name of the deceased has not been released.

Its very sad, our thoughts and prayers go to all the families of the people involved in the crash
Tragic indeed. May their souls rest in peace.
May Phuthi Chonco rest in peace and may Aphelele Chonco have a speedy recovery :-(
This is so sad. I never imagined that she will depart so tragically. A great woman she was. My prayers with the family and those that are in hospital. May her soul rest in peace.Goodnight, see you in the morning
I was one of the first on the scene and my wife called for help while I checked all the
injured. I feel sorry for all involved especially the 2 young woman. People were stopping on the opposite side of the road and running through debris to look at the wreckage, using their phones to better see the trapped bodies. I felt ashamed to be there, in a country where we have the best human rights constitution but in death we act like savages. I was the first to get to the vehicles, the young woman who passed away had a pulse when I checked. She must have died while everyone was a good look.
It is disapointing and sad seeing yet another tragedy like this from looking @ the photo taken @ the scene speed def played a role in this accident what I can’t seem to understand is the impact of the camry it def looks like it was a cut and join job hope that can be investigated as I am a qualified panelbeater and jus looking @ the quantum involved would have been much more severe damage to the vehicle pray for those hurt in this accident anto the life that was lost we need to remember that speed kills and that this could of been one of us it is sad again seeing the amount of vehicles being damaged in accidents that we repair and the loved ones lost in these tragedys
may ur soul rest in peace mom Phuthi Chonco you will be surely missed by CFCI church…………Aphelele Chonco may u hv a speed recovery in hospital God
