Rotary family health project
Rotary clubs of Empangeni and Richards Bay are offering free health services for three days in April

THE annual Rotary Family Health project will run from 2 April till 4 April and take place at the Mpembeni Tribal Court, a few kilometres outside eSikhaweni.
The campaign promotes healthy living and disease prevention by providing comprehensive free healthcare services to tens of thousands of people in underprivileged communities.
The Empangeni and Richards Bay Rotary clubs, with the help of volunteers, will be working together to facilitate this year’s event.
Services over the three days will include those offered by the Department of Health (DOH), such as HIV counselling and testing, screening for TB, diabetes and blood pressure, measles vaccinations, de-worming and the dispensing of Vitamin A.
Women’s health issues will be catered for with cervical cancer screening being performed by the DOH and nutrition counsellors will also be present for the whole of the three days.
In addition there will the services by Sanca, Cansa (prostate cancer screening) and Hospice for advice and support.
LifeLine will be offering emotional support, as well as representing the Thuthuzela Rape Crisis Center. Basic eye testing will be offered by a local optician, with referral for further treatment if necessary.
