Ntambanana residents are unsure when water supply will be restored
RESIDENTS of Ntambanana this week said they did not know when water supply would be restored to their area.
This followed a public meeting held on Sunday to discuss the prolonged water problems experienced during the past four months.
Addressing residents, Ward 7 Councillor Mubi Sibiya said the municipality planned to install pipes using the old line to deliver water speedily to the community.
However, irate community members said they were ‘tired of sharing water with cows’ and questioned when the damaged water pump would be repaired.
‘The ward councillor told us the cause of the water shortage in this community is not as a result of electric cable theft so we want to know what the problem is?’ said an irate community member.
Sibiya told residents to use the water borehole to fetch water in the interim while water tankers would continue to service the area.
Some residents of KwaGxigxi Reserve said they were not informed when tankers visited the area.
‘Why was it delivered at somebody else’s home, and not at a communal Jojo tank? The Jojos are either damaged or located far away,’ said another community member.
Residents said they were still in limbo and were not told if and when the damaged water pump would be repaired.
The ward councillor said all efforts were being made to restore water supply to the area including curbing the vandalism and cable theft problem.
The problem with you poeple is that you don’t want this people to have clean water because you want them to drink with animals and treat them asif they were animals, while you enjoy everything, you disgust me.There’s a saying that goes”I am proud of my country, but I’m ashamed of my government”and that’s the truth.we’ve left our business details on the water divining, but no one does anything about it,we even were willing to drop our costs by 30% but still nothing.it just shows you how much you care about poor people living in such conditions.
