National award for local restaurant
Restaurateur 'pays it forward' by supporting DICE (Do I Care Enough?) charity organisation
EMPANGENI was put on the national food map last week when Nam Jai House in Empangeni announced they had won the coveted RASA (Restaurant Association of SA) Rosetta Service Award for ‘International/ Altenative/Experiential Restaurant’ at a glittering function in Gauteng.
Annemarie Benecke and her team celebrated by inviting some of their regular patrons and supporters to a lavish 20-course dinner.
During the night fun auctions and ticket sales saw the event raise a staggering R28 000 for DICE.
Speaking of her experience at the awards ceremony, Annemarie – who has twice won the DICE Chef competition – said, ‘I was so overwhelmed, I cannot express it in words.
‘ To think that you are nominated for a service excellence award and then at the same time discover that you are a finalist in the top 10 for the Best International/Alternative /Experential Restaurant, was mind-blowing.’
She thanked her mother, husband and family for their ongoing support and encouragement.
