UPDATE: Family to bid farewell to Wayne
Messages of support stream in following shock death
The details of the memorial service for Wayne Wilmot (37), have been released by his family.
Wayne, who died in what is believed to have been a traffic accident on Wednesday evening, will be laid to rest at the Embo Craft Centre, Old Main Road Hillcrest on Sunday 30 April at 1pm.
A community-wide search was launched by family and friends of the Hillview, Empangeni resident after they were unable to reach him on Thursday.
Friends appealed for information on his whereabouts, and searched for him in local hospitals.
Tragically, on Monday afternoon his body was identified in Richards Bay by a close family friend.
It appears that he was struck by a vehicle while riding his bicycle near the N2/Grantham Highway intersection some time on Wednesday, and died at the scene.
Messages of condolence have been pouring in for the gentle and popular young man, and his mother Charmaine Corbett, thanked the community for their support when announcing the details of the service at which his life would be celebrated.
Wayne was a talented graphic artist, who was excited about his future as a custom helmet designer.
‘Wayne was so focused on this new style of helmet, and was so excited about the numerous orders he had already lined up. I am so proud of my boys,’ she said.
