Emergency services raced to the Protea Hotel Waterfront shortly before 6am today (Thursday) after a fire broke out in the kitchen.
Guests, some still in night clothes, grabbed belongings and headed outside.
Nobody was injured and the situation was soon ‘back to normal’, albeit with a lot of clean-up to be done from the effects of smoke and water.
