Patient admitted to hospital under false identity

RICHARDS Bay police are looking into a case where false documents were submitted when a patient was admitted to Netcare The Bay Hospital during the weekend.
According to police, a criminal case was opened after staff discovered that a medical aid card holder booked a patient into the hospital under the wrong identity.
The patient was not one his dependent’s but he submitted false information and enlisted him under the identity of one of his dependents.
Richards Bay SAPS spokesperson, Captain Debbie Ferreira said membership substitution, members using their medical aid card for other people to use who are not registered dependents is a criminal offence and warned the public to refrain from committing such fraudulent activities.
