Diamonds on the soles of Danielle’s shoes
eShowe pupil recognised as the top pupil in the uThungulu District.
ON receiving the news that she had to attend Wednesday’s Department of Education’s matric achievers function in Durban, eShowe High School’s top performing matric pupil, Danielle Duggan, had to quickly find a pair of school shoes to wear for the occasion.
As has become tradition at the school, she had donated her shoes for distribution to needy pupils in the area after writing her final exam.
Danielle was recognised at the function as the top pupil in the uThungulu District.
She achieved A’s in English (first language), Afrikaans (first additional language), mathematics, life orientation, computer aided technology, graphic design and life science.
Danielle plans on studying towards a teacher’s diploma through Unisa this year.
School Principal Andre’ van Schalkwyk was pleased with the results of the class of 2015.
Of the 133 pupils who wrote the exams, 132 passed, with 78% earning Bachelor degree qualification.
It was not only Danielle’s achievement which has done the school proud.
Fellow pupils Zwakele Qwabe (84.3%), Micaela Krupanandan (81.1%), Ntokozo Gasa (81.7%), Nosisa Ndabandaba (81.5%), Zinhle Masondo (81.2%) and Wandile Dlamini (80.7%) were all ‘A’ candidates.
Zinhle Masondo received 99% for history.
