KZN police’s Operation Fiela initiative between 28 December and 3 January has been a huge success.
Provincial Commissioner Lt Gen Mmamonnye Ngobeni said 882 suspects were arrested for various crimes during this period.
Crimes committed by the suspects included possession of drugs, possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition, murder, house robberies, rape, dealing in liquor, possession of stolen property, arson and malicious damage to property, stock theft and common assault.
A large quantity of drugs and liquor were also seized by police during the operations.
Ngobeni appealed to community members to continue their support in the fight against crime by providing information about any criminal activities taking place in their areas.
