WATCH: Major plans for Thanda resurgence
Good support from the home spectators will play a great part in their motivation.
WATCHING the Thanda Royal Zulu FC squad training in Tuesday’s incredible heat and wind, it was obvious head coach Major David Bright has identified areas of improvement.
He barked out orders and continually rehearsed drills aimed at making the Amabhubesi brigade sharper, faster and more explosive in the closed spaces.
Training on a reduced-sized field, the players were forced to make decisions far quicker than normal, always being aware of tight marking, with no time to dwell on the ball, and needing to get rid of it quickly and accurately.
During the intense practice, Bright also stressed the necessity to recover rapidly and to drop back after losing the ball.
But the most obvious intention was in setting up sharp scoring opportunities, and the goalkeepers were hammered with rapid fire shots from every angle.
It’s going to be interesting seeing it all come together on Sunday afternoon, when Thanda host Highlands Park at the uMlathuze Stadium at 3pm.
The boys are raring to go and the visitors could be in for a torrid time.
Amabhubesi need a solid win to give their second half of the season the momentum it needs to propel them up the table.
