The woman was picked up in the Madlankala area, next to Cubhu lake, and transported to the hospital by ambulance on December 27.
She was unconscious upon admission and had sustained multiple injuries all over her body.
The identity of the victim is unknown.
She is light in complexion, wears her hair in dreadlocks and is believed to be around 40 years old. .
It is suspected she might be from the Madlankala or Esikhaleni areas.
Police are investigating a case of attempted murder and rape, and request anyone able to assist in identifying the woman to contact: 086 0010111.
