KEEPING up their fine tradition of excellent IEB results, Grantleigh Schools accomplished another full house with all 64 candidates passing and notching up a number of highlights in the process.
All the pupils qualified to study at higher learning institutions, with an impressive 92.2% eligible for Bachelor’s Degree studies and 16% achieving an aggregate average of over 80%.
Collectively, 84% of the matrics scored more than 60% aggregate average.
No fewer than 106 subject distinctions were attained in total and 60% of the group wrote and passed both mathematics and physical sciences.
Top achievers, both with seven distinctions, were Anri Ehlers and Chishala Kunda.
Jessica Holmes (6), Sarah Harrison (5), Jonathan Hunter (5), Donna Crous (5) Thomas Trezise (4), Micayla Prozesky (4) and Kaylee Demont (4) also did superbly well in achieving distinctions.
Grantleigh featured prominently on the IEB national ‘Top 1%’ of candidates per subject list’, with Ehlers and Ell-anne van den Berg shining in Afrikaans First Additional Language.
Anri featured again, together with Hunter, on the Engineering Graphics and Design Hall of Fame.
Others to make the ‘Top 1%’ list were Ashley Schick (life orientation), Jessica Holmes (life sciences) and Nathan McNeill (mathematical literacy).
‘Thanks to the dedication and efforts of our teaching staff and the professional standards of the IEB, our Grade 12s have done themselves and their school very proud,’ said Executive Head Shaun McMurtry.
‘I am amazed at the pupils’ commitment to study, putting this before any sport or leisure activities without any prompting. They were indeed a self-motivated group.’
