Brazen thieves cripple licensing station systems
The station was forced to shut down after its computers were stolen
ACCORDING to the KwaZulu-Natal transport department, Durban’s Umbilo Motor Licensing station was forced to bring its operations to a halt after thieves made off with computers vital to the station’s functioning.
‘It is quite disturbing to note the extent of the greed and audacity of the thieves, who show no care about plundering the services of the nation,’ said Transport, Community Safety and Liaison MEC Willies Mchunu. ‘Because of their nefarious work, the Umbilo Motor Licensing station will not be operational until further notice.’
Mchunu also called on anyone with information on the theft to contact local police.
‘We urge the affected members of the public using the station to be patient, and advise that they go to nearby stations, including Pinetown, to get assistance with licensing services,’ said Mchunu.
