Community tip-off leads to dagga bust

40-year-old man was found in possession of more than 100 kilograms of dagga.

INFORMATION by community members led to a recovery of a huge dagga consignment in KwaDlangezwa on Saturday.

According to Mtunzini police spokesperson, Lt Sbusiso Guma, police officers on duty received an anonymous tip-off about a man selling drugs to teenagers in the area.

Upon arrival at one of the homesteads, a 40-year-old man was found in possession of more than 100 kilograms of dagga.

Zakhele Clive Cele (40) was arrested and charged with being in possession of illegal substances. He appeared at Mtunzini Magistrate’s Court on Monday and was released on R2 000 bail.

‘This man is suspected of selling these drugs to young children. We thank the community for working with us to ensure that we limit criminal activities in the area,’ said Guma.

The case was postponed until 21 January.
