Movie Preview: The Gift
WATCH: The torment begins with a gift left on the doorstep.

It seems to be the norm these days that the director of a film also plays one of the leading characters… and to this end Joel Edgerton takes on the role of Gordon ‘Gordo’ Moseley, a psychotic individual who raises the hackles of a former classmate and his wife when they return to town.
A seemingly innocuous attempt to welcome the couple to their new home turns into an extremely harrowing experience.
The torment begins with a gift left on the doorstep.
But, there is so much more to the tale than meets the eye…. And that’s where I am going to leave you for now.
An Alfred Hitchcock aficionado, Joel originally entitled the screenplay ‘Wierdo’… and allegedly didn’t actually begin his acting role until two weeks into the shooting of the film (concentrating on his début directorial role during that period. His elder brother Nash then moved behind the camera).
Joel has created an intriguing tale which will certainly keep you enrapt… and the role of Simon Callum is a marked departure from Jason Bateman’s normally comedic adventures.
Pop down to Ster-Kinekor Boardwalk this weekend for this spine-chilling thriller.
