Zululand quad riders end the year on a high

Three Zululand quad bikers finished top six as the KZN Rally Sprint Series came to an end

THIS year’s KZN rally sprint series came to an end in Scottburgh, at the Scottair Sprint, where three Zululand quad riders finished the event in the top six.

Although Richards Bay’s Arnie Meiring went off the track on the first lap, owing to a broken steering damper, he managed to put in consistent times for the rest of the day/night event, finishing on the podium, in third place.

With Mtubatuba’s Hugo Timmermann securing second position overall for the year a few races before the end of the season, he ‘went out and had fun’, ensuring consistently good finishes to maintain his second overall.

He came in fourth at the Scottair Sprint. Newcomer to the quad fold, Mike Griffin from Empangeni, shaved almost a minute off his slowest lap time, ensuring a sixth position finish for the event.

At the prize giving last Saturday, Timmermann was awarded a trophy for his second position overall, while Meiring was rewarded for his third overall position.

Griffin ended his first year in the series in 11th place.
