MTUBATUBA Regional Court on Wednesday sentenced Sibusiso Zungu to 15 years behind bars for robbery with aggravating circumstances.
Zungu and an accomplice robbed Siyabonga Biyela of R700 at the Bit by Bit Tavern on 1 July.
After having bought some meat and drinks, Zungu, who was well known to Biyela, and his accomplice approached Biyela as he was leaving the tavern.
The two, who were armed with knives, grabbed and tripped Biyela before demanding money, pick-pocketing him and stealing the R700. They then fled the scene.
Zungu was arrested on 4 July at the Bit by Bit Tavern and his accomplice was arrested on 25 August.
The accomplice, however, was released for a lack of evidence connecting him with the crime.
