One arrest in Mtuba armed robbery

Seven suspects remain at large in connection with an armed robbery in Mtubatuba.

FIDELITY guards were on Monday morning overpowered by eight armed suspects who made off with an estimated R400 000, with which an ATM should have been filled.

The incident occurred outside the Boxer supermarket in Mtubatuba at about 8.45am.

After stealing the two boxes of money, the suspects fled in a Nissan bakkie.

Mtubatuba SAPS officers were alerted and immediately started tracing the suspects.

Investigations led them to the home of one of the suspects, in whose yard the getaway vehicle was parked.

The 42-year-old was also found in possession of the two boxes of money and was arrested on Monday afternoon. The other suspects remain at large.

KZN Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Mmamonnye Ngobeni thanked the members of the community who alerted the police and gave a description of the vehicle used by the suspects.

The police will trace the suspects who are still at large.
