Special treat for community foster mothers

Richards Bay Family Care honours Mandlanzini foster mothers.

FOSTER mothers in Mandlanzini were honoured for their selfless service towards caring for orphaned and vulnerable children in their communities at a function hosted by Richards Bay Family Care on Thursday.

The foster parents, many of whom are ‘gogos’, were acknowledged for the role they play in society as guardians to children who have lost their parents, been abused or neglected.

The seniors enjoyed a morning of entertaining performances, song and dance, a sumptuous lunch and each received a special present.

In an emotional turn, the ‘gogos’ could not hold back their tears as they bid farewell to social worker Mutsai Ndlovu, who is relocating to the North West Province.

They thanked Ndlovu her for all her hard work in helping them to access social grants and for her support, help and advice with caring for their young foster children.
