UPDATE: Murdered taxi driver identified

A third man believed to be linked to the Nkwalini intersection hijacking has been arrested.

A THIRD man believed to be linked to the attempted hijacking at the Nkwalini intersection yesterday has been arrested.

Yesterday afternoon, the body of Lucky Cebekhulu (38) was found in his vehicle near the Heatonville turn-off with two gunshots to the head.

It is suspected that the two suspects, who fled from Nkwalini, are responsible for his murder.

A suspect was arrested near the scene and he had an unlicensed firearm in his possession.

The three suspects will appear in the eShowe Magistrate’s Court tomorrow.

Warning

The police have been staking out the notorious Nkwalini intersection and earlier this week, SAPS eShowe Cluster spokesperson, Capt Tienkie van Vuuren issued a warning to motorists using the intersection to be on their guard.

It is hoped that these arrests will lead to further suspects being apprehended.

At present resurfacing of the R66 passing the intersection is being carried out and there is a stop-go control in place.
