ESHOWE-BASED Sibongakonke Buthelezi will be heading off to Buyel’Embo Village, Mandela Park in Khayelitsha to participate in the Viceroy Makoya Mix competition final event to be held on Saturday, 7 November.

He will be competing against DJ Quester from Paarl, DJ Bozah from Roodepoort, DJ Lite from Witbank and DJ Mthakes from Port Elizabeth.

DJ Sbonga had a great love for music as a youngster which started when he was first introduced to Oskido’s Church Grooves: The Second Commandment.

His idol is Black Coffee, because of his authentic style that separates him from other DJs.

He says, ‘Black Coffee has a relaxed approach to music and a very unique way of mixing all the musical elements in his music production and live sets.

‘He is my ultimate inspiration! I love the fact that he has put South Africa on the map in terms of raw African house music and has created a platform for otherDJs to travel the world through music,’ he said.

DJ Sbonga’s signature DJ style is using acapellas, reprises and loops in his set to make it fresh, different and unique when compared to other DJs.

Speed and accuracy are his strong points behind the deck.
