There is a steady increase in investment in the housing sector in the City of uMhlathuze.

BUILDING statistics for the April – June quarter this year show a steady increase in investment in the housing sector.

Statistics presented to the uMhlathuze Exco showed plans were approved for 125 new buildings at a combined value of around R166-million.

April plans approved:

Dwellings – 10. Cost R5 990 000

Dwellings alterations/extensions – 37. Cost R12 821 000

General Industrial – 2. Cost R11 920 000

General Industrial alterations/extensions – 1. Cost R712 000

April buildings completed:

Dwellings – 3. Cost R13 208 000

May plans approved:

Dwellings – 13. Cost R8 615 000

Dwellings alterations/extensions – 21. Cost R6 388 000

Educational – 1. Cost R5 288 000

May buildings completed:

Dwellings – 1. Cost R2 459 000

Dwellings alterations/extensions – 4. Cost R1 615 000

Service industrial – 1. Cost R2 934 000

June plans approved:

Dwellings – 8. Cost R8 318 000

Dwellings alterations/extensions – 28. Cost R11 263 000

Flats – 1. Cost R35 444 000

General Industrial – 1. Cost R37 548 000

Commercial – 2. Cost R20 722 000

June buildings completed:

Dwellings – 5. Cost R1 231 000.
