HENNIE Swart (25) proved once again that he can only stand out and perform at schoolboy level after scoring three goals in the dads versus lads soccer game at Heuwelland Primary School on Wednesday afternoon.
The titanic battle between the old and experienced dad’s side against the young and talented U13A side, produced some ‘Ishibobos’ and cracking goals that kept the crowd thoroughly entertained.
It was the young guns who found the back of the net first through striker Damon Griesel, but the lead was short-lived .
Showing no mercy, Swart went overboard and scored two quick goals to claim a 2-1 lead for the dads going into the dressing shed at the interval.
After a couple of beers for caro loading and one or two cigarettes to ‘increase the oxygen supply to the muscles’ the old toppies were ready to go for the kill in the second half.
But they were quickly brought back to reality when Siyaqoba Bhengu and Khulusanda Sithole found the back of the net with two cracking goals to reclaim the a 3-2 lead for the boys.
This temporarily shattered the dad’s confidence, until Beyers Habig found the back of the net to level the game at 3-3.
It was decided to play ‘black ball’, which means the next goal wins the game.
So once again it was Swart who came to the fore, finding the back of the net after combining well with Habig, leaving the dads with the bragging rights for 2013 despite the valiant efforts of the youngsters.
