A 16-year-old boy made his first appearance at the Ngwelezane Magistrate’s Court today facing charges of armed robbery.
The boy together with three other armed men robbed a supermarket in Ntambanana last Friday night.
According to Empangeni SAPS spokesperson Captain Mbongeni Mdlalose, the men pointed a gun at the store manager, grabbed R10 000 and fled the scene.
‘The manager shouted for help to which several members of the community responded and gave chase.
‘Out of the four men, only one was caught – unarmed,’ Captain Mdlalose said.
The money and weapons have not yet been recovered and detectives are following strong leads on the whereabouts of the remaining men.
