Awards for deep sea anglers

Deep sea anglers success was acknowledged at the recent ZDSAA awards dinner.

LOCAL deep sea anglers were rewarded for their achievements at the annual Zululand Deep Sea Angling Association (ZDSAA) prize-giving function held at Umhambi Lodge in Meerensee on 2 October.

Anglers from various ski boat clubs received Zululand and Protea colours for their efforts throughout the year.

Highlights on the evening were awards handed to Tammy Hammond and Jonathan Booysen for their world, all-African, South African and Zululand records they set earlier this year.

Talented youngster Dale Leenstra was also rewarded for his records set throughout the year.

Phillip Marx, Herman Olivier, Jonathan Booysen and Jacques van Wyk received their Protea colours.

Youngsters Quintin Olivier, Ruben Olivier and Ruan van Rooyen, as well as Neil Steenkamp received Zululand colours after representing Zululand at the 2015 game fish competition at Shelly Beach where they picked up a silver medal.
