Mtunzini Rotarians make a difference

Mtunzini Rotarians spread the joy

THE newly-formed Mtunzini Rotary Club is wasting no time in serving the community, providing physical necessities and emotional support to scores of underprivileged beneficiaries.

Thanks to a tremendous donation from TOMS, 180 pairs of shoes were handed over to Mrs Princess Ngema for members of the Open Ground Church, many of whom walk a far distance to church as they are without transport.

‘Mtunzini Rotary and TOMS Shoes are glad to have made a small change in the day to day lives of these people,’ said Rotarian Sarina van Heerden.

‘Our second trip was off to Mathubu Crèche, close to the Forest Inn, after having identified the help and maintenance assistance that Mr Sifiso Dlamini offers the Crèche, despite having to walk kilometres to get there on a daily basis.

‘He did not know about the bicycle that was being donated to him and was very grateful for this gift of mobility which was sourced by Fulvio Pace from the Rotary Club of Empangeni through Bicycles for Humanity.

TOMS shoes donated to Rotary were also taken to the Anchor Church in Mtunzini, who will assist with swifter distribution to the community.

Also helping with shoe distribution is Mtunzini resident Sharlene Smith, who identified other needy families.

‘The growing Mtunzini Rotary Club would like to thank the community for continued assistance and support,’ said Sarina.
