VIDEO: Unlucky number seven for uThungulu
RH Construction uThungulu went down in both T20 matches played on Sunday at home.
IT was a case of unlucky number seven for RH Construction uThungulu on Sunday when they went down by seven runs to Topham and seven wickets to Delta in their double header Premier League T20 clashes at Addison Park on Sunday.
In the morning clash with Topham, captain Eugene Zwart won the toss and sent his troops in to field first.
Topham did well on the flat, hard batting track with a tennis ball bounce to post 110/7 in their allotted 20 overs.
TM Lortan top scored for the visiting outfit with a well played 40, with Sunfoil Dolphins ‘speed freak’ Daryn Dupavillon causing destruction with the nut, ending with figures of 3/16 in 4.
The home side got their chase underway with left handed opener Stephan Joubert smashing 20.
With Grove Venter on 19, one would have thought he would have steered his team over the line, but unfortunately uThungulu made 103/5 in their 20 overs, handing Topham a seven run victory.
M Patel was the man who did it with the ball for Topham, ending with figures of 4/15 in 4.
Unlucky
In the second game of the day, captain Zwart won the toss and elected to bat first in the match-up with Delta.
The home boys battled against a good bowling attack and great fielding performance, which left the scoreboard reading 104/4 in 20.
Once again Grove (34) and Joubert (25) top scored.
Delta reached 108/3 in the 19th over to claim a convincing seven wicket victory, thanks to Sunfoil Dolphins players D Smit (33 not out) and K Maharaj (39 not out) getting their side over the line.
RH Construction uThungulu all-rounder Trevor Kietzmann impressed with the cherry, ending with figures of 2/11 in 3.
RH Construction will take on Berea Rovers in Durban on Sunday in their next T20 assignment.
