I REFER to your recent article calling for people to collect their new smart ID cards.
My wife and I are both pensioners and on 15 May last year we applied for our new cards.
My wife received her’s a week later, but to date I have not received mine.
I have been to Home Affairs many times and I call them every week.
They always say they will come back to me with some news, but they don’t.
They have also sent away many emails to find out from Pretoria what is happening and on two occasions I was told they have cancelled my application and I have to apply again.
On doing so, my new application is rejected as I was ‘already in the system’.
How long does a person have to wait for this?
In your report on the matter they stated it will take a week to a month to receive the new card.
Surely not 16 months?
