WATCH: Man critical after crashing down embankment

He was thrown through the windscreen as the car left the road

The young owner driver of a custom built high performance car was critically injured when the vehicle left the John Ross Parkway and hurtled down a steep embankment shortly after 1pm on Saturday.

The driver was thrown through the windscreen as the car left the road and he rolled for over 30 metres before he came to a stop.

After 20 minutes of treatment on scene he had still remained unconscious and was taken to hospital, as was the only passenger, who suffered a badly gashed head and various abrasions.
