ROUND Table Empangeni 61’s dancing, singing and performing paid off as R18 000 was raised for the Sunflower Fund during the weekend’s stage show, ‘Mama Mia’ at the Umfolozi Casino Resort.
Guests were given a free Sunflower Fund bandana to show their support for the South African bone marrow registry.
Treasurer Clinton Gauld said, ‘It was one of our best shows to date and there is definitely some new acting talent in Table.
‘The crowds really seemed to enjoy the entertainment and we are extremely grateful for the way they dipped deep into their pockets to help people fight cancer,’ he said.
The Sunflower Fund is a national organisation which aims to secure financial support to increase the number of bone marrow stem cell donors in South Africa. With the odds of finding a donor being 1 to 100 000, the idea is to expand the registry to at least 100 000.
Don’t forget Bandana Day on 12 October. Bandanas are available from Pick n Pay at R25 each.
