Lammon lives on the cutting edge
Meet Lammon de Beer - the hair expert cut out for the job.
FLAMBOYANT, funny, fearsome, fabulous, subtly sarcastic, razor sharp, brutally honest and deeply compassionate.
These are the terms which come to mind when ‘falling prey’ to professional hairstylist Lammon de Beer – the sniper with the scissors.
She boasts an impressive professional curriculum vitae with a four-figure headcount, including those of beauty queens Penny Coelen-Rey, Vera Johns, Batsetsana Kumalo and the first Black Miss South Africa, Jacqui Mofokeng.
Idols finalist and singer, Bianca La Grange has also been her willing victim of fashion more than once and she has blown away critics in the Miss Nelspruit and Miss SA Pageants and FHM photo shoot.
She has nailed screen work for glossy magazines the likes of Vogue and can cut, blow, dry, snip, curl, colour and create while under the matric farewell whip.
Lamon is a small-town celebrity in own right, and though sought after by the rich and the famous, every client receives her undivided attention.
And that is one of the secrets of her success – she truly cares for people and takes old fashioned pride in delivering more than expected.
Short-tempered and a perfectionist when it comes to her trade, like most creative masterminds, nobody is having a bad hair day with her on the cutting crew.
She spots a home ‘colour-cut’ job like a hound, crying foul with unconcealed, hair-raising horror reflected in her expert eye.
‘Hair is global. Hair is a statement and reflects a lifestyle. Hair is my passion and my profession,’ she sums up why she can make heads turn.
‘I create an image – a transformation.’
And she will not colour you crazy, make you pull your hair or leave with a style which is best described as ‘I want to see the manager’.
Lammon completed a four-year Hair and Beauty Diploma at the Witbank Technical College, covering subjects such as biology and business practice.
Her Christian faith has made a profound impact on her life and throughout personal hardships, her personal creed remained hard work, honesty and faithfulness in friendship.
When she lets her hair down, it is usually to curl up on the couch for a cat nap.
The beauty industry can be cut-throat, so to speak, but this serial stylist has no time for hairball.
‘Just a selfie with a new hairdo now and then,’ she jokes.
