Tigerish Ashton College take the honours
Ballito based Ashton International College claims tournament victory on Felixton soil.
ASHTON International College dominated the annual Tiger Wheel & Tyre U19 girls soccer tournament at Felixton College on Friday afternoon, going through the pool stages unbeaten and then beating eShowe High School 2-0 in the finals to claim the bragging rights and trophy for 2015.
Nine local schools competed in two pools, following a round robin system playing 20 minute games.
Semi-final one saw the Ballito-based college beating Grantleigh Schools 1-0 thanks to a first-half goal.
eShowe beat Felixton College 2-0 in the second semi-final thanks to goals from Ashante Nkosi and Akwande Majola.
The third and fourth play-off between Grantleigh and Felixton College ended in a goalless draw and the third spot was shared.
The participating schools were Empangeni High School, Felixton College, Ashton International College, Birdswood Secondary, Grantleigh Schools, Richards Bay Christian School, St Catherine’s, Richards Bay High School and eShowe.
Most of these schools will be back in action on Saturday at the annual Saints Soccer Challenge to be held at St Catherine’s School.
