SIX men accused of stabbing a man to death at a nightclub in the Richards Bay CBD, appeared in the Richards Bay District Court yesterday.
According to the State’s charge sheet, Sikhumbuzo Dlamini (24), Sthembiso Mthethwa (19), Philani Thokozani Mkhize (18), Sibonele Lwazi Mthethwa (20), Siyanda Bila (20) and a 17 year-old youth, stabbed Thabo Mhlongo to death at or near Lion’s Den on 7 June.
The incident happened in the early hours of the morning.
According to reports at the time, the 33-year-old victim was struck with a knobkierie and knife while he was allegedly trying to break up a fight.
He died on the scene.
Ten men were originally arrested, but four were later released.
Bail was refused for all the accused.
The matter has been remanded to 4 September for Regional Court queries to be dealt with, pending transfer of the case to the Regional Court.
