Supercars onto canvas for Dice4DICE charity drive

The annual DICE4DICE Charity Run will be held on 15 and 16 August at Umfolozi Casino Resort.

PUTTING supercars on canvas for Dice4DICE again this year, is local artist Phillipa Hancock.

At last year’s event her painting of a white Porsche sold for R10 500 on an auction where all proceeds went to charity.

Phillipa, who attended St Catherine’s in Empangeni and studied fine art at Pietermaritzburg University, says that painting cars is quite a challenge because ‘the lines have to be perfect’.

She signs her paintings ‘Koo Hancock’, the ‘Koo’ referring to the name her nanny gave her when she was a toddler, which was derived from the Zulu word ‘kulile’ meaning ‘grown-up’.

The paintings she did for this year’s Dice4DICE charity action, a red 911 Carrera and a black 911 GT3 RS, are done on canvas with oil paint.

Phillipa says in the painting of the black Porsche she created a sense of motion by filling the background with smoke and flames.

Another local girl who has applied her artistic flair to this year’s Dice4DICE, is Chanté Moolman.

She is the daughter of well known local motorsport enthusiast Japie Moolman and wife Belinda.

Chanté painted a portrait of F1 legend Michael Schumacher, which will also fall under the hammer to raise funds for DICE.
