THE Department of Home Affairs official, who was arrested last week in connection with identity document fraud, appeared in the eShowe Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday for a bail application.
The accused, Cyperian Mandla Simelane, was granted bail of R1 000 on condition he hands over his passport and reports every Monday to the eShowe SAPS.
His case was remanded until Wednesday, 26 August to allow for further investigation.
Simelane was arrested on Thursday, 16 July on charges of fraud.
His arrest followed an investigation by the Home Affairs Fraud Unit after Tengetile Nokukhanya Simelane (27) was arrested by Immigration Officials in eShowe.
Simelane was found to have a Swaziland passport and an RSA identity document with different names.
The RSA identification document was found to be false.
She pleaded guilty for being illegally in the country and also for being in possession of a fraudulent ID.
