A MAN, wanted in connection with various crimes in Gauteng Province and KwaMsane, was on Saturday arrested in Nswebeni near Mtubatuba.
An intelligence-driven operation undertaken by KwaMsane Tactical Response and Empangeni crime intelligence teams led officers to the 37-year-old suspect.
In his possession were two firearms, a 45mm automatic pistol with 27 rounds of ammunition and a .38 special revolver with five rounds of ammunition.
The suspect was arrested and detained at Mtubatuba Police Station. The suspect’s vehicle was also seized, suspected stolen. He was charged with possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition and possession of suspected stolen property.
Ballistics tests on the firearms will reveal whether or not they were used in other crimes. A most sought after man, the suspect is thought to be linked to the murders of his grandmother in KwaMsane and his brother in Johannesburg.
The suspect is due to appear at Mtubatuba Magistrate’s Court today.
