School vandal sent to jail

The school suffered damages in the amount of R221 000, including broken windows, apparatus, basins and toilets smeared with human excrement.

A MAN who broke into and vandalised a Mandlazini high school, has been handed down a sentence of direct imprisonment in the Richards Bay Regional Court.

Addie Babay Mbuyazi (19) was convicted for housebreaking with the intention to commit malicious injury to property at Lizwe High School.

Mbuyazi broke into the premises on 11 July last year, where he left more than his finger prints behind.

The school suffered damages in the amount of R221 000, including broken windows, apparatus, basins and toilets smeared with human excrement.

He was sentenced to five years imprisonment of which two were suspended for five years on condition that he is not again convicted of a similar offense during the time of suspension.
