A MTUBATUBA defence attorney is in a serious condition after he was shot at his home in KwaMsane on Saturday morning.
Thulani Madela said he felt something was amiss between him and his half brother, Ndodozi Myeni, his immediate neighbour at the same homestead.
When Madela confronted his brother to try and settle the situation, a quarrel ensued, during which Myeni allegedly alluded to jealousy over Madela’s education and employment. According to Madela, Myeni’s wife ordered their child to fetch a firearm. Madela turned to run and was shot three times in the left upper back and once in the lower back.
The first three bullets exited his front left chest and the fourth is still lodged in his lower back.
Madela is currently in Netcare The Bay’s surgical ward awaiting surgery.
Myeni was arrested after the shooting on Saturday, charged with attempted murder and appeared in the KwaMsane Magistrate’s Court on Monday.
He was remanded into custody and the case was postponed until Monday pending further investigation.
Initial police reports suggest Madela and two associates confronted and assaulted Myeni and when Madela was shot, the other two got away.
