
A 20-year-old woman, Nontobeko Gwala (20) was sentenced to 11 years imprisonment for raping a 16-year-old boy.
The Esikhawini Regional Court heard how Gwala also assaulted another child who witnessed the rape.
The two victims informed their elders of the incident and a case of rape and assault was opened at the Mtunzini police station.
The case was subsequently handed over to the Empangeni Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Units, Gwala was arrested on the same day of the rape.
KZN Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Mmamonnye Ngobeni said it was disappointing a women would be accused of such crime but all cases will be investigated in a firm manner irrespective of who the perpetrators are.
