Rundown post boxes annoy residents

Residents in uproar over dilapidated post office unit in Aquadene.

THE dilapidated state of Aquadene post office boxes is costing residents the loss of important letters and documentation, which are being damaged by the weather.

Several community members vented their frustrations to Ward Committee member Sheilla Dunn and a written petition and letter of complaint was submitted to the Richards Bay Post Office.

Meanwhile Dunn said the post office unit has been in disrepair for ages and is in need of urgent intervention.

‘Some of the boxes cannot even be used because the rust has eaten away at them and the unit is in a poor condition.

‘The roof is collapsing and when it rains the post boxes are filled with water and this damages the documents inside.

‘Residents are paying for a service and they deserve to have this matter dealt with urgently.

‘This is a concern for our residents and even though technology has evolved there is still a need for the postal service,’ she said.
