Minnie uplift rural learners
Zululanders supported the Minnie Dlamini Foundation gala dinner.
FIVE learners from two rural schools were granted tertiary bursaries by the Minnie Dlamini Foundation as part of youth to youth empowerment.
The declaration was made during a special gala dinner at the Richards Hotel last Friday.
Balondo and Sbonokuhke High Schools in KwaMthethwa area will further benefit from a science and laboratory and computer room supported by the foundation.
The initiative was spearheaded by well-known actress and presenter Minenhle Dlamini in a joint venture with Indondakusuka Community Radio (Icora Fm).
It aims to empower young bright learners in Maths and Science.
‘There are a lot of young people who know what they want but can’t afford education and further training.
‘This programme is to equip the youth with better skills in order to have enough qualified people working in our country,’ said Minnie.
To raise more funds towards the foundation, Zululanders bid for a date with the popular TV and radio star, raising R22 000.
Idols winner and award-winning artist Khaya Mthethwa, also pledged to donate five computers towards the programme.
