Harris in search of reclassification
Quinton has qualified to swim on behalf South Africa and has been placed on the road to Rio programme by Swim South Africa (SSA).
LOCAL disabled swimmer Quinton Harris will be jetting off to Sochi, Russia with coach Claire Swan and manager Kenny Sloane in search of the correct classification, while competing in the International Wheelchair and Amateur Sports (IWAS) World Games.
Harris was classified in the S5 class, but should be swimming in the S3 and S2 classes.
He will get classified at the IWAS and then continue his training for the Paralympics, which will be held in Rio de Janeiro next year.
Quinton has qualified to swim on behalf South Africa and has been placed on the road to Rio programme by Swim South Africa (SSA).
It has been organised by SSA and SASCOC enabling Quinton will be reclassified at this event.
Harris currently holds four SA short course records, six African short course records and six SA long course records.
Harris is unemployed and survives off a small pension income and therefore needs financial assistance with this trip to Russia.
The total cost is R60 000.
Quinton leaves on 26 September and comes back on 3 October.
