Cable theft plunges City into darkness

Cable theft suspect apprehended.

CABLE theft at The Hercules Substation in Richards Bay left several suburbs without electricity for two hours during the early hours of this morning.

According to reports, a suspect broke into the substation around midnight.

He removed a palisade in the fence, gained entry through a back door and removed cables and wires as well as vandalized a buszone panel.

As he fled through the nearby bushes with the stolen property, he was apprehended by police and arrested.
