FOUND guilty on five charges of rape, Smangaliso Ngema (20) was sentenced to 35 years imprisonment at the eSikhaleni Regional Court on Thursday.
In 2013, the then 17-year-old boy of Bhekizwe Reserve on the outskirts of eSikhaleni, raped five young boys between the ages of eight and 13 within his own area and neighbouring Madukwini Reserve.
On the same day last week at the Empangeni Regional Court, Sithembiso Bhekani Biyela (19) of eNseleni was sentenced to five years imprisonment for the rape of his neighbour, a nine-year-old boy.
According to court reports, the young boy had been returning from school when Biyela invited him over to visit, after which he raped the child.
In addition to the sentencing of criminals who had sodomised young boys, Thabani Mbuyazi (21) of Mathusi Reserve took to the dock last week and was sentenced to 25 years imprisonment for the rape of a seven-year-old eNseleni girl.
