Richards Bay bang on target to claim win

RICHARDS Bay 1 secured a convincing win during the inaugural Darts Competition between Richards Bay and Empangeni at the Mondi Sports Club on Saturday.

Empangeni took on Richards Bay in a darts competition, comprising one cricket match, two double 701 games and four singles 501 matches.

Both towns entered five teams of four players per team into the knock-out competition.

‘The aim is to play this competition four times a year in 2016. We will play twice this year, with the next competition at the Empangeni Rugby Football Club in August,’ said tournament organiser Hazlin Pillay.

The Richards Bay 1 team of Ronnie Mcwen, Hazlin Pillay, Raj Praag and Ronald Rajkumar, beat Richards Bay 4 in the finals to claim the title.

Runners-up were Raylin Chetty, Bunny Chetty, Waine Naidoo and Alan Naidoo.
