Vibrant Dumo takes on new challenge
1KZN TV presenter Dumo Cebekhulu leaves television to develop KZN youth.
ZULULAND’S much-loved television queen Nondumiso ‘Dumo’ Cebekhulu bid the small screen farewell this week.
The popular 1KZN TV presenter and producer hosted her last show on Tuesday.
Her departure from the station was motivated by her dream of developing KZN youth through her company DoMore Events.
‘I will be working with young people who want to make a difference and do something with their lives. I have always wanted to work with the youth, give them a platform to uplift themselves and help them grow. I will also be involved with many campaigns such as drug awareness,’ said Dumo.
She started her TV career in 2009 presenting a lifestyle show called Siyabangena. After the station transformed from Bay TV to 1KZN TV in 2012, she hosted a tourism show Zishaphi, and later produced several programmes such as My Jukebox, Ziwamore and Khulumasizwe.
Last year she was selected to be an uThungulu tourism ambassador alongside TV personality Jabulani Shandu eMatshana, Isibaya actress Jessica Nkosi, Muvhango actress Phindile Gwala and local deejays
Her fans will remember the vibrant presenter for her wild, colourful personality and her love for local entertainment.
‘I thank my colleagues and the TV station chairperson Dr Themba Fakazi. He was not just a leader, but like a father to me. I had an amazing journey and appreciate my community’s support throughout the years,’ she said.
