THE fantastic form of Thanda Royal Zulu’s star striker, Phumelele Ace Bhengu has earned him a call-up to the Bafana Bafana squad for the forthcoming Cosafa Cup.
Featuring teams from southern Africa and taking place from 17 – 30 May, South Africa is one of four seeded teams that go straight into the quarter finals, where they will take on Botswana in an evening game on 25 May.
While this is by no means the strongest side coach Shakes Mashaba could have assembled – no overseas players have been included and some domestic league players are doubtful pending possible play-offs – Bhengu fully deserves a place in the 22-man squad.
The super poacher has banged in no fewer than 20 goals this season, the highest tally of any striker across all the leagues.
