DEMOCRATIC Alliance (DA) member of parliament in the provincial legislature and political head of the uMkhanyakude constituency, was charged for alleged contravention of the electoral act, but not arrested after this week’s Mtubatuba by-elections, as unofficial reports stated yesterday.
According to Ntuli, both she and the DA provincial leader, Zwakele Mncwango, had a charge laid against them by KwaZulu-Natal MEC for Finance, Belinda Scott.
Scott alleged both Ntuli and Mncwango were involved in campaigning on election day.

‘This is simply not true as I spent election day meeting and greeting voters at the various polling stations and thanking them for their support,’ said Ntuli, adding that presiding officers and police officers corroborated her story.
Mtubatuba SAPS Station Commissioner, Colonel Mngomezulu, said the charges laid against Ntuli related to her alleged contravention of the electoral act and said the docket would be handed to the prosecutor for a decision.
